How to Prepare for Your First Barber Appointment
By Vlad

The hardest part of any first appointment is the conversation. Not because it's awkward — it's not — but because most men have never been asked what they actually want from their hair. They've spent years pointing at pictures and hoping. So the most useful thing you can do before your first visit is spend a few minutes thinking about what you'd say if a barber had time to listen.
Start with how you wear your hair on an average day. Not your dream styled look — the actual five-minute version. That tells me what your hair needs to do, and that's what your cut should be designed around.
Bring two or three reference photos if you have them. They don't have to match each other. They just have to give a sense of the direction. I'll combine them with what I see — your hair pattern, your face shape, your lifestyle — and we'll land on the cut together during the consultation.
Come with your hair in its natural state if you can. Freshly washed but not loaded with product. That way I can see how it actually moves, which is the only thing that matters for getting the cut right.
Arrive on time. The suite runs by appointment, which means the slot is yours and only yours. There's no rush, no overlap, and no reason to feel like you're holding anyone up. Walk in. Take a breath. The suite is yours for the next hour.
Last thing: don't worry about overdressing or underdressing. The suite is warm light, quiet music, and good products on the counter. The only thing required is that you show up as yourself.
